What is the drama spot?

The Drama Spot offers affordable theatre classes to students of all ages, backgrounds, and interests in the Midwest and Central Texas. We partner with schools, daycares, and community centers to make sure that where ever YOU are, The Drama Spot is, too.

Unlike traditional drama programs, The Drama Spot is not time-bound and does not hinge on a final production or performance opportunity. Instead, we lean into continuous learning, exploration at your own pace, and challenge by choice (with encouragement!).

We use theatre as a tool to cultivate skills for life.

We offer classes for all ages, from 2 years old through High School. Our unique curriculum is:

The Drama Spot classes support your student in their Social-Emotional development, fine and gross motor skills, English, Math, and Science — all while having FUN!

TINY TOTS

2-year-olds || Full of sound and movement, this class has our tiny tots dancing and singing their way to confident self-expression. We leverage the curiosity of toddler-hood and develop social, emotional, and motor skills.

Ages 3-5 || In our Kinder Class your child will explore storytelling through interactive read-alouds,  imaginative play, and confidence-building  activities. Join us weekly  for enriching lessons that nurture creativity and social skills!

    Teaches in: Austin

    Liz Zimmerman is a life-long theatre artist. Having spent her formative years at a 6-12 public performing arts school, Liz’s passion for theatre education runs deep. She believes in the power of theatre to unlock the potential in every human: young-at-heart and old-souls alike.

    Liz received her B.A. in Theatre from the University of Maryland and is an experienced pK-12 Theatre Educator.

    Meet Cassidy Vlietstra, a teaching artist and program director who brings her bubbly personality to The Drama Spot! She's been with the company almost since the beginning and absolutely loves what she does. A lifelong theatre enthusiast, Cassidy has been teaching since 2020. You'll find her teaching drama, directing musicals, or performing in plays, always helping young artists shine!

    Teaches in: Indiana

    Lucy Smith studies Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Psychology at Saint Mary’s College. She’s an active performer in both campus productions and with Twin City Players, and she also works as an assistant teacher at the Early Childhood Development Center on campus.

    Lucy loves sharing her pssion for theatre with her students and believes in creating a warm, inclusive environment where they feel free to be creative, take risks, and grow through play and performance.

    Strongest Core Skill: Adaptability

    Teaches in: Michigan

    Adrienne has spent the better part of the last decade helping children find their voices in musical theatre as former Executive Director of Children’s Music Workshop. Watching the children grow in both ability and confidence has always been Adrienne’s favorite part of children’s theatre.

    Adrienne has also spent the last three years as a substitute teacher for Lakeshore Public Schools, which has helped solidify her love for working with and educating children. Adrienne has a degree in Psychology and Communications from the University of Michigan.

    Macy is a Theater Education major at Ball State University, where she just completed her first year! On campus, Macy is involved in her community and will be assistant director for James and the Giant Peach in the fall and stage manager for a new play in the spring!Macy has always wanted to find a way to make theater an impactful career, and teaching young people how to share their ideas and art is exactly that!
